Accession : diamond jubilee

For all the boaty fiery celebratory things which will happen later this year, I thought I should note that today is the actual anniversary of Elizabeth II's accession, and therefore the precise diamond jubilee date.

The general world of royal and patriotic memorabilia is huge, and the focus here is very narrow; I'm not so much a royalist as a student of social history and needlework. Every one of these items has a story.
